A local, sustainable Christmas market will be held on the edge of Rotterdam City Centre from December 12th to 14th. This intimate Christmas market will focus on sustainability and responsible shopping with local businesses!
Even though Trompenburg is just outside the city centre, you won't want to miss this festive weekend! For three days, Trompenburg's evergreen botanical gardens will be the setting for an intimate Christmas market for all ages. Along the route that leads you through this historic country estate, you'll find over 60 stalls selling products related to nature, such as hellebores, heather, organic flower bulbs, and freshly cut mistletoe. You can also expect unique (gift) items from local businesses.
Over 60 local businesses fill the garden paths of Trompenburg with their finest products. The Christmas market exudes greenery: think hellebores, heather, organic flower bulbs, and freshly cut mistletoe. You'll also find a wealth of unique gift items—from handmade ceramics and garden decorations to woodturning, harvest products, and warm wool blankets.
At the entrance to Trompenburg, you'll step onto the charming winter square. Here you can buy Christmas greenery straight from the botanical garden; sustainable and local. Create your own botanical Christmas arrangement with eco-friendly floral foam and give Trompenburg's greenery a second life in your home.
During the Christmas market, you can enjoy winter treats in the covered food court or at one of the cozy terraces. Try organic fries, a Japanese meal, or a heartwarming Pom Pie. In the cozy "Stube", the aroma of mulled wine and apple strudel awaits, and at the Icelander bar, you can roast marshmallows in a variety of flavors.
On Saturday afternoon, the market is livened up by the cheerful duo Windy Business. Between 12:00 and 15:00, Bert (trumpet/vocals) and Leo (tuba) and their mini brass band create a festive atmosphere among the stalls.
For children, Troampenburg is one big winter adventure. Little ones can have fun on the merry-go-round or participate in winter games along the route. Older children can literally climb the trees! Together with tree expert Andries, they climb the impressive Quercus robur 'Cistata', an oak with a story to tell. A unique experience high up in the branches!
The garden truly comes alive in the evening. During the Green Guide walks, you'll explore the illuminated paths and hear all about the unique trees, hollies, and evergreens that Trompenburg boasts. These walks take place on Friday, December 12th, and Saturday, December 13th, at 6:00 PM.
