Nothing better than enjoying the spring sun in the fresh crispy cold. It may not be time for a picnic yet, but it's always nice to be outside and grab some rays during your lunch.

In the city you will find plenty of nice places to fully enjoy this. How about the Leuvehaven, the Leuvekolk, the Grotekerkplein or the Binnenrotte? For a snack, visit one of the following places.

De Falafel

She may not stand out on the Binnenwegplein, but you can get the best falafel in this cosy place! Freshly fried, of course. Then complete the meal with a wide choice of different toppings. Do you go for a little bit of everything, or are you satisfied with just garlic sauce? At De Falafel you decide it all yourself.

The Leuvehaven is within walking distance from here, so if the weather is nice, just take your pita with you and enjoy it by the water in the sun. Perfect for lunch or as a snack.

De Gele Kanarie - Café

This cheerful yellow bird is a well-known concept in the city. In addition to his old familiar place on the Goudsesingel, the canary now also has a nest on the Binnenrotte. Here you can enjoy the well-known Gele Kanarie atmosphere, including the wide range of beers and the always cheerful service.

The idea of the café is mainly that you can go there all day, so for both a Rotterdam cup of coffee in the morning, or a drink at the end of the day. I like to come here for a quick lunch, with the grilled cheese sandwich being my favourite. I always like it when you can upgrade such a simple product from an ordinary cheese sandwich to a little masterpiece. Of course not only valid for lunch, because let's face it, it's always time for a toastie, right? Exactly, that's what I thought too.

Bas Bakt

In the trendy Witte de With quarter you will find Bas, and this Bas likes to bake bread. You can find it on the Hartmansstraat. From Monday to Saturday you can join him for breakfast, lunch or coffee, but you can also take it with you on the road. While you wait for your order, you can enjoy the goings-on in the bakery with their "open kitchen".

As far as I'm concerned, their winner is one of Bas' "sandwiches". When you hear this, it may not sound so sexy, but experience it and you know that the opposite has been proven. For a very reasonable price you get two well-stocked thick (sourdough) sandwiches. Then you'll be ready for the rest of the day!

The Gallery Kitchen

If you prefer a more extensive lunch, The Gallery Kitchen might be something for you. It is located on the Weena, within walking distance of the central station, in the heart of the city. The interior and the wall decorations look a bit arty, so you understand where the “Gallery” in the name comes from.

Many dishes with an Italian touch can be found on the menu. In addition to luxury sandwiches, you can also go there for a tasty pasta. Also great is that there is no lack of vegetarian options. So, be inspired by the art on the wall while you enjoy your well-deserved lunch.
