The summer month of July in Rotterdam is mainly dedicated to festivals! With these events planned, you're bound to have some great weekends. Wondering which one you shouldn't miss? Read them here.
Who doesn't know it: the largest indoor jazz festival in the world! On 11, 12 and 13 July, Rotterdam Ahoy will once again be the home base for this unforgettable event. In addition to new and hidden talent, the stars of the sky will be sung by the greatest artists. This year, big names are on the programme again, Diana Ross, Norah Jones, Mary J. Blige and Maxwell.
On July 17th it is time for another edition of the Eendracht Festival in Rotterdam! The festival is for real music lovers who can not only find themselves in the top 40 lists, but are also open to something new. Here they offer a stage for talents with expertise in genres such as rock, hip hop, jazz, EDM and much more.
The Eendracht Festival is located at the Eendrachtsplein of the same name, among others. But surrounding creative locations are also part of the Rotterdam music phenomenon. For example, there are stages at Westblaak, Heilige Boontjes, BIRD, Rotown and Club Uniek.
Since 1984, Rotterdam is the proud home of Summer Carnival in the Netherlands. This year, on July 25 and 26, there will be plenty of partying, with of course the Street Parade as the highlight! This spectacle is not to be missed and turns the city upside down. Come to this tropical party in the middle of Rotterdam Centre for free. Everyone is welcome to join in the dancing!
Saturday 12 July, it's party time again in the Kralingse Bos! Just like every year, a lot of attention will be paid to the decoration of the different stages and areas. Each music style will get its own area and there will be a lot of focus on (inter)nationally appealing DJs. For example, Speedy J, Stranger, Rod, Ben Klock, DVS1, Adiel, Lobster, Jamie Jones and Benwal will be playing the best records.
From 4 to 6 July, Noordplein in Oude Noorden will be transformed into a musical paradise during the Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival. With a line-up full of international acts, Dutch talent, jam sessions, workshops and a cosy festival atmosphere, this three-day event is a must for music lovers. The festival is accessible, child-friendly and exudes the relaxed atmosphere of Oude Noorden – an ideal summer activity for those who love live music and culture.
Was this already on your schedule? Then we have bad news. Unfortunately, it has been announced that the Metropolis Festival will not take place this year, due to insufficient financial resources. It would have been the 36th edition of this unique, free festival in Rotterdam, where new international and Rotterdam artists steal the show every year.
