The autumn period has arrived and for some that also means: time off! The official autumn holidays in Rotterdam are from October 14 to 22. After a warm summer, it is a bit of a switch when it is suddenly a bit colder. However, it cannot be denied that autumn also has its charms.
For example, nature is at its most beautiful in autumn! No other season is as colourful. Mushrooms are sprouting from the ground and when you walk outside, the scent of the leaves and trees is nice and clear. Grab this underrated time of year with both hands and brave the rain in Rotterdam Centre! To help you find your way, we have listed a few autumn tips for you.
Start your autumn holiday with a party! On Monday, October 9, the Lijnbaan will be celebrating its 70th anniversary. We will celebrate this anniversary on October 14 together with the Stichting Jarige Job. During the anniversary, the entrepreneurs and shopkeepers of the Lijnbaan would like to draw attention to families where it is not self-evident to celebrate children's birthdays. That is why they have created a special programme in collaboration with Stichting Jarige Job.
On October 14, during a visit to the Lijnbaan, you can have your photo taken with a life-size cake. You will also learn everything about the Lijnbaan during the free guided tours by the enthusiastic city guide Ferrie Weeda. Ferrie is a real Rotterdammer with a heart for his city and can tell about the history of the Lijnbaan like no other.

The Kralingse Bos is a real autumn paradise. Mushrooms sprout from the ground like… mushrooms and the colours red and brown sparkle through the trees while a fresh breeze blows through your hair.
During de Grote Schijn, the splendor of nature is put in a very special light. When the sun goes down you can imagine yourself in a fairytale world full of surprises. Be amazed by a magnificent spectacle of smells, colours and sounds.
De Grote Schijn is open every evening from Thursday 12 October to Sunday 29 October.

Don't forget to discover hidden gems such as the new REJOES store or the Marjorie Fernandes X Life at Goodiez. Oh, and if you want to take something special with you, stop by the Peanut Butter Shop and KKEC.
Need another pair of sneakers while shopping in Rotterdam Centre? Then discover the Hoogkwartier and escape the hectic pace of the Koopgoot and Lijnbaan for a while. Here you will find the famous sneaker and streetwear store Woei. In addition, you will find a huge variety of shops and cafes. For example, you can first shop for culture at the Aboriginal Art Gallery, and then drink coffee with cats at Pebbles Kitty Cat Café!

As soon as you enter the 18th century entrance gate of this garden, you are no longer in the city centre, but you are in a protected national monument, a piece of oasis with a rich collection of flora and fauna. Walk around and enjoy the greenery, take a seat on a bench by the pond and read a book. This way you can really relax.
