Visiting Rotterdam city centre by car? There is now a new way to travel into the city quickly and affordably. At five Rotterdam P+R locations, you can now park for free if you continue your journey by shared bike or shared scooter via the Gaiyo app.
Until now, free parking at a P+R location was only available if you continued your journey by public transport. There is now an additional option. This is especially convenient if you want to reach a specific location in the city centre quickly or travel outside regular public transport hours.
You can make use of free parking in combination with shared transport at:
From the new P+R Blijdorp, for example, you can reach the city centre in around 10 minutes by bus, shared bike or shared scooter.
To make use of free parking, you need to start your shared bike or shared scooter journey via the Gaiyo app. Only journeys booked through this app are eligible for the scheme. If you use the app of a provider such as Lime, Check, Felyx or Baqme directly, free parking does not apply.
This expansion makes it even easier to park your car on the edge of the city and complete the final part of your journey to Rotterdam city centre by public transport or shared transport. Not only can this help you save on city centre parking costs, but it also helps reduce traffic congestion on the roads and in the city centre.
Rotterdam now has 16 P+R locations across the city. If the new shared transport scheme proves successful, it may also be introduced at other P+R sites in the future.
