NN Marathon

Just a little while and then our sporty Rotterdammers can get back to work! On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April they will run the annual marathon. But they won't cross the finish line without their supporters.

To make things as easy as possible for you, you can read more here about the accessibility of Rotterdam city centre during the marathon.

Reaching the city with ease

As parts of the city will be closed on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April, some areas may be difficult to reach. The best advice is therefore to travel by public transport or by bicycle, both for participants and spectators. Get off at metro stations Centraal Station, Beurs or Blaak and walk आसानी to the start and finish locations. Planning to support the start of the full marathon on Sunday? Then get off at Wilhelminaplein metro station.

Travelling to the marathon by car

Is it still more convenient to travel to Rotterdam by car? You can park free of charge at one of the P+R locations on the outskirts of the city. From there, take the metro into the city centre.

Do you want to drive into the city? Please take road closures into account. For example, the Coolsingel will be completely closed throughout the entire weekend. Below are a few locations that are difficult to reach by car:

  • Coolsingel (Hofplein – Meent): Friday 10:00 until Sunday 23:00
  • Schiedamsedijk: Saturday 06:00 until Sunday 20:00
  • Stadhuisstraat + Raamplein + Doelwater: Saturday 06:00 until Sunday 23:00
  • Burgemeester van Walsumweg: Sunday 05:00 until 17:00

Wilhelminakade will remain accessible; traffic will be allowed in both directions on Otto Reuchlinweg via Posthumalaan. To reach the city centre, the advice is as follows: if you enter the city from the west, also leave via the west. If you enter from the east, leave via the east as well.

More information about accessibility by car and road closures can be found on the Rotterdam Marathon website.

Good to know

On Sunday 12 April, no metro services will stop at Leuvehaven station until 15:00, and no metro services will stop at Stadhuis station until 19:00. Leuvehaven station will be completely closed until 11:00, meaning it cannot be used as a passage.

Were you planning to take your bicycle on the metro? Unfortunately, this is not permitted on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April until 20:00.
