It is becoming increasingly important for many Rotterdammers that the products they buy are made in a fair way. Is sustainability also very important to you? Then take a look at these sustainable shops in Rotterdam Centre.

For example, are you looking for sustainable shoes, fairly produced clothing, local groceries or plastic-free everyday products? You will find all that and more in Rotterdam Centre!

WEAR

WEAR, , located on the Oldenbarneveltstraat and in the Koopgoot, is a shop with a mission. At WEAR they want to do something about the mountain of waste and ensure an inclusive labour market. People with an untapped labour potential are given the opportunity to discover and develop their talents. They clean sneakers and give used sneakers a second life.

And also not unimportant: by giving sneakers a second life, CO2 emissions are reduced and the fashion waste mountain becomes smaller.

De Groene Passage

De Groene Passage is a small shopping centre on the Mariniersweg where you can find several sustainable stores. For instance, you can do conscious shopping at Gimsel and the organic butcher De Groene Weg. You will find sustainable products for the home at Van Binnen, such as vegetable paint, floors and home accessories.

Or are you looking for a lovely gift? Then pay a visit to the fairtrade Wereldwinkel Rotterdam Centrum. Here you can buy original worldly gifts for young and old. The products sold here are made with respect for people and the environment. The makers of the products, such as the coffee drills and potters, receive a fair price for the products.

Do you want something (sustainable) to eat after shopping? In De Groene Passage you will find Spirit, a conscious restaurant where you can fill your plate with the 100% vegetarian and organic buffet.

The GoodPeople

Visit the MaHo quarter during a (sustainable) shopping spree in Rotterdam Centre. This part consists of the Pannekoekstraat, Nieuwemarkt and Botersloot and is full of nice hotspots.

For example, on the Pannekoekstraat you will find The GoodPeople. This inspiring, sustainable clothing brand has its origins in Rotterdam, but has also achieved international success in recent years. The clothing of The GoodPeople is inspired by life and made with a focus on quality, style, sustainability and positivity.

At The GoodPeople they strive to produce all their products as responsibly as possible. They are interested in the way their products are made, but also in the working conditions of the people who manufacture the products. That is why they regularly visit the factories themselves and know the people who work there, as well as the conditions and labour standards. Inspirational!

Binnenrotte market

If you are already shopping at The GoodPeople on the Pannekoekstraat on a Tuesday or Saturday, you can go straight to the Binnenrotte. Here you will find the weekly outdoor market.

What can you buy on the Rotterdam market? Really everything! Fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, cheese, flowers, but also second-hand clothing and other objects. Shopping locally is also sustainable. And a lot cheaper in this case!
