It is freezing cold, the waters in Rotterdam Centre are frozen, but whether the ice will hold you is another question. Fortunately, there are a few places where you can always skate! Even in the centre.

IJsvrij, Plein 1940

At IJsvrij you skate around one of the most famous statues of Rotterdam. In the middle of Rotterdam Centre you will find a cozy skating rink for young and old, beautifully overlooking the Nieuwe Maas.

Done skating? Then you can get yourself a famous dutch 'broodje Unox' and, of course, a hot chocolate. Sit back with a blanket and enjoy the winter weather and the beautiful view.

You can also go to IJsvrij for a game of curling, jeu de puk or ice hockey. Order your tickets below.

The Bijenkorf's roof

The Bijenkorf's roof will be transformed into a Swiss winter wonderland this winter. De Bijenkorf works together with Switzerland Tourism to ensure that the cozy Swiss winter atmosphere comes to Rotterdam.

On the roof you can skate, drink chocolate milk and enjoy the view. The rink is made for professional skaters and is of top quality. It is synthetic ice that looks and feels like real ice, but does not use any energy or water. So it is sustainable too!

After the opening on December 16, everyone is welcome to enjoy the 'ice'.

Schaatsbaan Rotterdam

Just outside Rotterdam Centre, in Kralingen, we find Schaatsbaan Rotterdam, or translated Skating Rink Rotterdam. You will find a 400 meter track for people who like to go fast, a fun track for kids and a curling track for uhm... curlers.

Do you find it difficult to stand on ice, like many people do? No problem! At Schaatsbaan Rotterdam you can also take a skating lesson. Also useful if you can skate well, but want to improve your skills.
