On Saturday, November 25, Schaatsbaan Rotterdam will open its doors for the 11th time! Another new year full of ice fun and skating under the rainbow. Get your skates out and experience the fun of Schaatsbaan Rotterdam for the next three months.
Like every year, you can come and skate on the day of the opening for just €1. For the youngest visitors there is a Sinterklaas show that morning and the evening ends with the popular Silent Disco. The perfect kick-off to a new skating season!
At the start of the (previous) 10th season, Mayor Aboutaleb called Schaatsbaan Rotterdam an icon for the city, placing it in the same category as the Maas Bridges, Central Station and the Markthal. Director Tijs Nederlof said about this at the time; “A wonderful compliment, it can't get much nicer than that.” Following the mayor's statement, the promotional video below was made, featuring skating legend Henk Angenent. “It is a place where sport, experience and people come together. We tried to portray that in this film,” says Nederlof.
