On Friday, August 1, 2025, the Delftsehof in Rotterdam will get a striking new look. Pop the Block will open a temporary skate park: Het Block. This vibrant space will be the hub of a summer full of movement, creativity, and connection.
The new skatepark, designed by Skateland, promises to be a striking and dynamic space in the heart of the city. The location—between Biergarten and Annabel—will become a temporary hotspot where sports, art, and community converge. The name "Het Block" refers not only to the physical elements of skating but also to the city block as a social gathering place.
The opening will feature not only the skate park itself, but also a large-scale street art piece by Noël Deelen and Jelmer Konjo. These Rotterdam artists, who are also active skaters, will bring a recognizable and creative touch to the square with their artwork.
Pop the Block kicks off at 4:00 PM and is free for everyone. There's a Best Trick Contest, where skaters can show off their best moves. De Nieuwe Lichting and Downtown will also provide a musical lineup featuring up-and-coming Rotterdam DJs. Visitors can expect a relaxed atmosphere with opportunities to connect and explore.
