At the Schouwburgplein you will find De Doelen, the music centre of Rotterdam. Since the 1960s, this impressive concert hall has been home to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, but you can also hear jazz, world music and pop. Literally around the corner from De Doelen lies Theater Rotterdam Schouwburg, the place for innovative and stimulating theater. Don't expect standard performances here, but quirky productions, dance, performance and theater with an edge. An evening at the Schouwburg is often surprising and always something to talk about.
The old Luxor Theater on the Kruiskade is a true Rotterdam classic from 1917. Atmospheric, intimate and a bit nostalgic. Here you can experience cabaret, music performances and smaller productions in a warm, cozy setting.
The modern Nieuwe Luxor Theater can be found on the Kop van Zuid — an architectural masterpiece on the Maas. With its characteristic red facade, the theater cannot be missed.
