Rotterdam offers a month packed with culture, music, sports, and culinary discoveries. With the events listed below for September, it promises to be a wonderful time.
The finalists for the new Fashion Mayor of Rotterdam have been announced! On Saturday, September 12 at 3:00 PM, they will face off in an exciting final. The election starts in the Koopgoot, naturally with a stylish and spectacular fashion show. Will you be coming to watch? You are more than welcome!
The Netherlands' biggest maritime spectacle returns! During the World Port Days, from September 4th to 6th, you'll discover the port like never before. Climb aboard impressive ships, experience exciting demonstrations on the water, and be enchanted by the evening spectacle with fireworks at the Erasmus Bridge.
From 6 to 13 September, it’s time for ALL CAPS 2026. In recent years, the festival has brought art to various locations across the city, including stunning murals in the Afrikaanderwijk and Feijenoord. Local and international street artists have transformed the walls of buildings into works of art, adding colour and character to Rotterdam’s neighbourhoods.
This year, ALL CAPS is heading to the Rotterdam neighbourhood of Lombardijen, where it will continue to expand its cultural and social impact. From 6 to 13 September, all participating artists will be painting live. Will you be there?
On Saturday 12 September, Floating Cinema returns to the Maritime District after six successful years. If you’re not familiar with it yet, the name says it all: it’s a cinema on the water!
During this edition, you can enjoy the film Jaws on a gigantic 12-by-6-metre screen. Watch the film from the covered seating area on the quay or from a boat. You can also combine the film experience with a bite to eat at Bar Blink. Just make sure to reserve your ticket in advance.
From the afternoon onwards, you can take part in free activities in the area as part of Open Monumentendag. Activities include boat tours, visits to historic ships and fun workshops. The Floating Cinema site opens at 18:00 with live music. This is followed by a fire show, a few short films and, of course, bars and snacks to round off the evening.
On September 12th, Kralingse Bos will transform into a vibrant festival site for one of the last times of the year. During A Day At The Park, you'll enjoy a mix of house, tech-house, techno, and urban music performed by leading artists.
The line-up features artists such as Benny Rodrigues, Baggi, Loco Dice and Claptone. And it’s not just about the music – there’s also plenty of delicious food to enjoy. In short, everything you need for a fantastic festival day in Kralingse Bos!
On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2026, it’s time for the VriendenLoterij Open Monumentendag once again. Thousands of historic buildings and monuments across the Netherlands will open their doors to the public for free throughout the weekend.
There’s plenty to discover in Rotterdam too, from historic churches and railway stations to unique places that tell the story of the city’s post-war reconstruction. One of the absolute highlights? The Lijnbaan. During Open Monumentendag, you can discover the Lijnbaan from a completely different perspective. Historian Ferrie Weeda will take visitors on special guided tours, sharing the story behind this iconic location.

From 17 to 27 September, Rotterdam will be celebrating Rotterdam Pride. For ten days, the city will be filled with events centred around art, culture, community, activism and celebration.
On Saturday 26 September, the annual Pride March will make its way through the city, with the international motto ‘Pride is still a protest’. Afterwards, head to Willemsplein for the free Rotterdam Pride Festival, featuring performances by artists including Berget Lewis, JEA and Mandy McCandy.
