Rotterdam offers a month packed with culture, music, sports, and culinary discoveries. With the events listed below for September, it promises to be a wonderful time.
The Netherlands' biggest maritime spectacle returns! During the World Port Days, from September 5th to 7th, you'll discover the port like never before. Climb aboard impressive ships, experience exciting demonstrations on the water, and be enchanted by the evening spectacle with fireworks at the Erasmus Bridge.
From September 7th to 14th, it's time for ALL CAPS 2025. In recent years, the festival has brought art to various locations in our city, including beautiful murals in the Afrikaanderwijk and Feijenoord districts. Street artists, both local and international, have transformed the walls of buildings into works of art, enriching Rotterdam's neighbourhoods.
During ALL CAPS 2025, they shift their focus to the Rotterdam neighbourhood of Beverwaard, where they will further expand their cultural and social impact. All artists will be painting live in Beverwaard from September 7th to 14th! Will you be there?
On September 14th, after five successful years, the anniversary edition of the Floating Cinema will take place in the Maritime District. If you're not familiar with it yet, the name says it all: it's a cinema on the water!
During this edition, you'll enjoy the movie Mamma Mia on a giant screen measuring 12 by 6 meters. You can watch the film indoors from the dock or from a boat. For a more exclusive experience, you can also book a private boat.
In the afternoon, you can participate in free activities in the area to celebrate Heritage Days. These include boat tours, tours of historic ships, and fun workshops. The Floating Cinema grounds open at 6:00 PM, and from 6:30 PM you can enjoy live music. Of course, there will also be bars and snacks to complete the evening.
On September 13th, Kralingse Bos will transform into a vibrant festival site for one of the last times of the year. During A Day At The Park, you'll enjoy a mix of house, tech-house, techno, and urban music performed by leading artists.
The lineup features artists like Benny Rodrigues, La Fuente, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano. Besides the music, there will be plenty of delicious food. Everything for an atmospheric festival day in Kralingse Bos!
On Saturday, September 13th, and Sunday, September 14th, many of Rotterdam's monuments will once again open their doors to the public during Rotterdam Heritage Open Day. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Council of Europe's declaration of 1975 as the "European Year of Architectural Heritage," this anniversary year is dedicated to Heritage & Architecture!
Rotterdam's major icons, such as the vibrant Hotel New York, the Van Nelle Factory, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Sonneveld House museum, will open their doors this weekend. Like never before, you can explore the city's monuments and learn more about their history.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 27, 2025, with a rainbow marker, because Willemsplein will once again be awash with all the hues of the rainbow.
The previous edition took place in June 2023, in honor of the tenth anniversary. In 2024, things went quiet due to financial challenges for the organizers at the time. But Rotterdam didn't let this stop them. In the summer of 2024, Bureau Vermaeck took the initiative to revive the festival. And with success.
The day begins with the Pride March: a peaceful protest and a powerful celebration of visibility. The rest of the day will be spent celebrating the festival at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge. Curious about what else there is to do in the city? Here's the whole programme of Rotterdam Pride.
