Rotterdam breathes creativity. From impressive museums to street art on street corners: art and culture are never far away here. This walking route takes you along the cultural hotspots of the city centre, with plenty of room for inspiration and a good cup of coffee along the way.

Kunsthal Rotterdam

We start at the Kunsthal, a must for lovers of surprising exhibitions. The building, designed by Rem Koolhaas, is a work of art in itself. From photography and fashion to classical painting: here you are presented with something different every time.

From here, walk into the green Museumpark: a gathering place for culture, architecture and greenery.

Museumpark & Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen

The Museumpark is a unique combination of park and cultural landscape. Among the greenery you will find sculptures and installations by Richard Serra and Atelier Van Lieshout, among others.

The big eye-catcher is of course the mirrored Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen – the first publicly accessible art depot in the world. Take the elevator to the roof terrace for a panoramic view of the city. Even without a ticket, the building is worth it.

Nieuwe Instituut

A stone's throw from the Depot lies the Nieuwe Instituut, where design and society come together. The exhibitions are often stimulating and topical. Be sure to also walk through the Museum Garden, a hidden oasis with art objects and resting places.

Witte de Withstraat

The Witte de Withstraat is the beating heart of creative Rotterdam. Here you almost trip over the art: murals, poetic quotes on the buildings and galleries such as TENT and WORM. This is also the place to be for a cultural coffee break. Take your time, this is a place to wander around, people watch and get inspired!

Maritime Museum

When you walk out of Witte de Withstraat, you can hardly miss the Maritime Museum. Here you can learn about Rotterdam's role as a world port, but also about design and innovation at sea. Outside are historic ships that you can admire for free. So even if you don't buy a ticket, you can already see a lot of beautiful things outside!

Oude Haven

We end in the cozy Oude Haven, a place where history and young city life come together. The iconic cube houses, the White House and a view over the water make this a visual feast. Enjoy a drink on a terrace or visit the Kijk-Kubus museum for a look inside one of the famous houses.
