On Saturday, November 8th, Rotterdam will be transformed into one giant stage! Popronde returns... and how! With 103 free performances at 47 locations throughout the city, this is officially the biggest Popronde Rotterdam ever.
From the Markthal to MONO, from a salsa school to a surf pool: on Saturday, November 8th, you'll discover new musical talent everywhere. Popronde is the traveling music festival of the Netherlands, where you'll see artists who could easily be playing at Lowlands or Down the Rabbit Hole next year.
Don't expect big names, but acts on the cusp of their breakthrough. Think of the generation of Froukje, Rondé, or Chef'Special; all of whom started out at Popronde. This year, over a hundred acts will be coming to Rotterdam, spanning all styles: from pop to punk, jazz to hip-hop, funk to electronic beats.
The day literally begins at the city gate: Rotterdam Central Station, where Utrecht folk singer Coos will kick off the event at 1:00 PM. After that, it's time to wander, explore, and dance all day long.
Rotterdam hotspots like BAR3 (in collaboration with Baroeg), De Doelen, Roodkapje, Ferry, MONO, and Club Uniek will open their doors for free performances. But even less obvious venues will be participating: Boekhandel van Gennep, Burgertrut, STEK, Episode, the Rotterdam Library, and even RIF010.
The evening ends late into the night with an impressive performance by electro-punk band Stroomstoot at Stalles BACK (formerly Club Centraal).
Last year, Popronde was awarded the IJzeren Podiumdier for Best Festival in the Netherlands. And Rotterdam has long known the wonders of this event: in 2021, the city won the Rotterdam Music Award for Best Festival. Since 2024, our city has even hosted the largest Popronde edition in the country. And that record is set to be broken again this year.
