After years of waiting, we can enjoy Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen again. During Rotterdam Architecture Month, the building will be open to visitors for five weeks.
From 1 to 30 June is Rotterdam Architecture Month, which takes place in the Museumpark. Visitors from young to old can follow a route through the greenery, past special installations about the past, present and future of the park. The big highlight is of course 'Snakken naar Boijmans', in which a special art route takes you through the monumental building.
Come to the outdoor exhibition in Museumpark, where a free route leads you to special places. For example, in the garden of the museum house Huis Sonneveld, a leading example of Dutch functionalist architecture from 1933, a meter-high tower is being built that literally allows visitors to walk through time.
The route continues to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, which has been closed since 2019 for a large-scale renovation and renewal, but is open for five weeks especially for Rotterdam Architecture Month. Lectures, workshops, films and debates will take place in the Henket pavilion behind the museum, programmed by AIR – Architecture Institute Rotterdam in collaboration with many partners from the city.
The route continues with a temporary bridge from the museum garden to an intervention in the Rose Garden and other special places in the Museumpark.
The big highlight of the route through Museumpark is of course the Boijmans Van Beuningen visit. A unique opportunity to discover the museum in a different way - a way you have never seen before and will never see again.
Ticket sales for Snakken naar Boijmans (translated: Longing for Boijmans) start on May 1, 2024. A special art route captures the visitor between echoes of the past and dreams of the future and various interventions by artists bring the empty building to life. There will be an additional programme, including for children.
