What will a store look like in the future? De Bijenkorf challenges creative thinkers up to the age of 15 to design the store of the future.

The best and most human-, animal- and environmentally friendly idea, or a practical translation of the idea, will be brought to life at the beginning of 2022!

Store of the future

What will be sold in the store of the future? Can you do other things there besides shopping? Is it still a real building like now? And how do we ensure that the store of the future is 100% human-, animal- and environmentally friendly?

All relevant and current questions for the Bijenkorf. The warehouse decided to present it to the customers of the future. Young talent and sustainability are central to the design competition.

The winning idea is actually carried out

All children up to the age of 15 can participate in the competition, alone or together with friends, classmates or clubmates.

An expert jury, consisting of ecologist and founder Fawaka Ondernemersschool Thiëmo Heilbron, head of sustainability Justin Pariag van de Bijenkorf, retail expert Rupert Parker Brady and head of creative strategy de Bijenkorf Inge Schmitt, will select a finalist for each store. The designs of the finalists will be on display in the shop windows of the Bijenkorf in January 2022.

One winner will then be chosen from among the finalists. If you win, your idea will be implemented in real life, or a practical translation of the idea. In addition, the winner will become the department store's children's director for sustainability for a year. This means that you go to a meeting with the management, for example.

Join the contest!

So are you a creative thinker aged 15 or younger, or do you know someone who is? Then this is of course a great opportunity to make a difference.

Designs may be spoken, written, drawn or constructed, analog or digital. Send your design or a photo of it to detoekomstisgroen@debijenkorf.nl no later than 30 November 2021 or submit your design to the customer service department of one of the Bijenkorf stores. Do not forget to mention your name, address and age.
