If you walk through the centre of Rotterdam at night, you may notice that the lights are not switched off in all offices. In fact, it seems like everyone is still working their bottoms off at 1 at night.

Maybe Rotterdammers are just living up to their reputation as hard workers. But it seems more likely that all those hard workers are already in bed. Then why are those lights still on?

Rotterdam turns off the lights!

Energy (saving) is more relevant than it has ever been. Prices are already rising higher than the Euromast and there is also a climate agreement from Paris that must be achieved.

Time to turn off those lights! Are you at the controls in an office? Make sure to control the light switches too! It's not good for the climate and it's a waste of money. By the way, don't forget to unplug the luminous logo on the outside!

Can't help it?

Green Business Club aims to turn off all unnecessary lights in offices from 23:30 to 6:00. Also in meeting rooms, company restaurants, entrances and stairwells.

This is of course easier said than done in many cases. Because often things like software challenges, system settings and security play a role. In addition, an organization is in some cases dependent on another organization, such as co-tenants, managers and property owners.

Green Business Club can help with this! Baseline measurements are carried out at participants of the club in December and January by Stichting Stimular. They do this to see what the current status is and more importantly, where the opportunities lie.

Bring it to light

Even if you are not in charge of the (light) switches in an office, but still want a dark Rotterdam, you can contribute. This can be done, for example, by sharing the campaign and (epic) video in your Instagram story!
