The Herds: A Poetic Parade Through the City

Spring is in the air once again, and it’s being celebrated in Rotterdam City Centre. On Saturday 28 March, Binnenwegplein will be transformed into a colourful tulip garden where visitors can enjoy a cheerful spring atmosphere between 11:00 and 17:00 – and even pick their own tulips.
A temporary tulip garden will be created on Binnenwegplein especially for this day. Stroll through the garden, take photos and soak up that true spring feeling right in the heart of the city. For a moment, the square will have the look and feel of a traditional Dutch flower garden, right in the middle of Rotterdam’s main shopping district.
If you’d like to take a little piece of spring home with you while shopping, you can. Visitors are invited to pick a free bunch of tulips (10 stems). All you need to do is show a receipt for a purchase of at least €10 from a shop in the Rotterdam City Centre shopping area.
This way, an afternoon of shopping becomes a little more colourful, and you’ll head home not only with your new purchases, but also with a fresh bunch of tulips.

The tulip garden makes a lovely stop during a day of spring shopping in the city centre. Browse the shops around the Lijnbaan, Korte Lijnbaan and Nieuwe Binnenweg, then stop by Binnenwegplein to pick your own bunch of tulips. Don’t forget to look up as well — the trees might just be in full bloom!
