What the Heart Tour looks like

On Monday 19 January 2026, 100 City Warmers will gather at 12:45 in the inner courtyard of the Groothandelsgebouw at Rotterdam Festivals. From there, they will head out in groups of ten, spread across ten heart-shaped routes through the city. On foot and by public transport, they will travel through North, West, South, East and, of course, the city centre.

Along the way, the groups will spread a green-white-green heart of care and energy: through compliments, small acts, creativity or simply by being truly present for a moment. After around 1.5 to 2 hours of walking, everyone will come back together at the starting point to share experiences and chat over a drink.

With something small – a smile, a compliment or a kind word – you can already make a big difference. Along the way, you’ll meet other City Warmers and feel how strongly Rotterdam’s social heart beats. You show that warmth is visible in the city and that involvement truly matters. And as you walk a special, heart-shaped route through Rotterdam, you’ll create memories of an afternoon you won’t soon forget.

What do you get and what do you bring?

Everything you need for a wonderful afternoon will be ready for you: a RET day travel pass, something tasty for the journey and a small gift to pass on. All you need to bring is:

• a smile and an open heart
• a bit of courage
• optionally a creative idea (a compliment, poem, song – or simply yourself)
• a fully charged phone to capture the moments
• comfortable walking shoes (and a step counter, if you fancy)
