Are you visiting Rotterdam during the Black Friday weekend of November 25 and 26? Or the weekend before Sinterklaas? Then we have good and bad news. The bad news is that Central Station is closed due to work. The good news is that you travel for free by public transport from the P+R areas!

Rotterdam Central Station out of service

ProRail is preparing the track to run more trains from 2025. This means that no train traffic is possible to, from and via Rotterdam Central Station during the following two weekends:

  • From Saturday, November 25, 1:06 a.m. to Monday, November 27, 1:06 a.m.
  • From Saturday, December 2, 1:06 a.m. to Monday, December 4, 5:06 a.m.

These are not the most ideal dates for the city and shoppers. They are unfortunate for, for example, Sinterklaas, Black Friday and the Feyenoord-PSV match on December 3. ProRail has indicated that there is no other suitable time. This is because a lot of coordination is required with, among others, the contractor and international train companies.

Free public transport from P+R

Fortunately, there is good news. Because whoever parks in one of the five largest P+R areas around Rotterdam during the Black Friday weekend and the weekend before Sinterklaas, will receive free public transport to the city. In this way we ensure that not everyone is stuck in traffic jams heading to the centre and that the centre still remains accessible.

The promotion

Free public transport applies to visitors who park in a P+R area on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November and Saturday 2 December and Sunday 3 December. This promotion applies to the Slinge, Noorderhelling, Meijersplein, Alexander and Kralingse zoom car parks. The P+R parking lots are on the edge of the city. And from there the centre can be reached within 15 minutes by public transport. At the P+R site you will receive a ticket for public transport. As always, parking is free!
