Rotterdam is gearing up for a musical adventure: North Sea Round Town is coming. From June 25 to July 12, the city will resonate everywhere: indoors, outdoors, at familiar spots, and precisely where you least expect it.

This year is extra special, as NN North Sea Jazz celebrates its 50th edition. And you can feel it. With more than 375 concerts at over 175 locations, there is always something that grabs your attention. Whether you are making plans or just heading into the city: Rotterdam is on.

Wandering along the Meent with live jazz on every corner

In Rotterdam city centre, the festivities get off to a strong start on the Meent. It’s all about discovery here. You wander from terrace to gallery, from shop to café, with music appearing everywhere you go. With around 50 concerts spread across 25 locations, the Meent transforms into a vibrant musical trail. Perfect for a summer afternoon that effortlessly flows into a long evening.

Language, music and talent at De Doelen

Something special is also happening within the walls of De Doelen. With Taaltrip x NSRT, primary school children who could use extra support with the Dutch language are given a unique experience. No classroom setting, but learning in practice, right in the heart of a real concert hall.

During this Taaltrip, pupils discover what goes into organising a concert and learn new words in a meaningful context. A highlight is the live workshop by spoken word artist Kay Slice. He shows how improvisation works – an essential element of jazz – and encourages the children to experiment with language and rhythm themselves.

Final weekend: music on the streets, in the metro and at the station

During the final weekend, everything comes together as the city centre transforms into one large stage. At Rotterdam Central Station, a major stage takes centre stage for three days straight. From the Lijnbaan to the Koopgoot, you can effortlessly move from one performance to the next.

Even while on the move, the music doesn’t stop. Hop on the metro and travel along with RET Melodies, where live performances turn your journey from Central to Zuidplein into something special. And as if that weren’t enough, another energetic stage awaits at Annie M.G. Schmidtplein (at the foot of Ahoy).
