Are you in Rotterdam Centre with your kids and the sun is shining? They might enjoy going to these places! From water fun to an interesting exhibition for kids - take a look at these summer activities.

Sliding in the Koopgoot

For some sliding fun between shopping, you don't have to go far. In the Koopgoot you will find two slides; for big and small visitors. Ideal if you want to whizz down with your little one. The slides can be found on the side of the HEMA.

Water fun at the fountains

The fountains in the Koopgoot are known to many. Great for children to cool down during the hot summer days. Are you near Museumpark? Then visit the fountains that come out of the ground there. Finally, your kids can have water fun at Schouwburgplein. The colourful grass mats ensure that it is less slippery, so they can run around. Fun guaranteed!

Marbles in the 'Goot'

Are your children tired of shopping? Maybe they want to play marbles! Thanks to the mega marble track in the Koopgoot, the children will be entertained for a while. The five-meter track runs past all the iconic buildings in the city.

Don't have any marbles? It makes sense that you don't have any with you, of course. At the HEMA service desk you can score a marble, which you can use in the Rotterdam Knikkergoot. After playing, you can of course take the marble home with you, but it can also be handed in at the donation point next to the track. For each marble, €0.50 is donated to the Friends of Sophia Foundation. A great cause, since playing outside and playing marbles is unfortunately not a given for every child.

Visit a playground

There are a number of playgrounds in Rotterdam Centre. Some are a bit bigger than others, but ideal if your child wants to climb or swing. For example, right behind Karel Doormanstraat - Karel Doormanhof 2 to be precise - you will find a slide, swings and a seesaw. Are you near Central Station? Then walk on to Speelcentrum Weena, where they have a large climbing frame and slide equipment, in the shape of a castle!

Are you near Blaak? Then walk on to Kipstraat - here you will find a large playground with various equipment. The address? That is Kipstraat 29J.

Maritime Museum: "Plons! De toekomst van de zee"

What really sets the Maritime Museum apart is the emphasis on interaction. The exhibitions are designed to appeal to both young and old, with hands-on experiences that bring the maritime world to life! For the younger visitors, there is therefore the exhibition ‘Splash! The Future of the Sea’. A must-see for this summer!
