On Saturday 12 December 2026, Rotterdam city centre will be illuminated with an extra special atmosphere as hundreds of walkers come together to take a stand against dementia. During the Rotterdam Memory Walk, you’ll follow a beautiful 7.5-kilometre route past some of the city’s most stunning locations, while supporting vital dementia research at Erasmus MC.
The Rotterdam Memory Walk starts and finishes at Plein 1940, overlooking the Wijnhaven. The walk sets off at 6.30 pm, just in time to enjoy the city at its most beautiful, illuminated in the evening light. The route takes you past iconic landmarks such as Witte de Withstraat, Markthal, the Cube Houses, the Oude Haven and, of course, the Erasmus Bridge. An evening filled with atmosphere, activity and meaning.
Just like last year, the Memory Walk takes you right through Erasmus MC, where dementia research is carried out every day. This special moment along the route adds extra meaning to the walk: you get to see first-hand what your contribution is helping to support.
There’s plenty to enjoy at the event site and along the route. DJs and an enthusiastic host keep the energy high, while food trucks serve up hot sandwiches, poffertjes (mini Dutch pancakes) and, of course, hot chocolate. The perfect way to warm up before or after your walk.
