Looking for a bicycle shed in Rotterdam Centre? Going into town by bike is a good idea. That way you avoid the busy traffic, you get a bit of exercise and you get some extra rays of sunshine on good days.
To make it even easier for you, Rotterdam Centre has several bicycle sheds to put you safely and under supervision. And also nice: they are all free. Read on to find out which places you can park your bike for a carefree day of shopping!
This street needs no introduction. We all know it as the ultimate shopping street, with countless well-known shops. At Lijnbaan 30, there are no less than 450 covered parking spaces available where ‘regular’ bicycles and cargo bikes can be parked (so not for mopeds and scooters). There is also a free charging point for electric (cargo) bikes. Ideal for a day of shopping, eating and exploring in Rotterdam Centre.
The entrance to the Koopgoot bicycle shed is located on the Westewagenstraat, on the -1 floor of the AIR building (formerly V&D). With space for 900 bicycles, this is the third largest bicycle shed in Rotterdam.
The shed offers space for various types of bicycles: standard bicycles, electric bicycles, bicycles with crate or child seat, and two-wheeled cargo bicycles. Parking fat bikes, shared transport, mopeds, scooters and motorcycles is not permitted in this shed. In addition, there are sixteen free storage and charging points available for the batteries of electric bicycles.
There are two places on the Meent where you can park your bicycle safely. One of them is at Meent 151, close to the Coolsingel. Here, your bicycle is parked outdoors and supervised. There is also a charging point for bicycles, mopeds and scooters, as well as several spaces for parking your moped or scooter. Did you know that there is also a repair station and bicycle pump available here? Handy if your bicycle could do with a quick fix. You can also borrow a buggy here upon presentation of your passport or identity card.
Further along the Meent, you can also park your bicycle in a car park. This facility is located at Binnenrotte 15. Please note: this car park is for bicycles only, not for mopeds. You can also charge your electric bicycle here, and a bicycle pump is available.
From the busy Coolsingel, you can easily cycle straight into the bicycle parking facility. It is located at the entrance to Beurs metro station, which is convenient if you wish to continue your journey by public transport. Here too, you will find a free charging point for electric bicycles, a repair station and a bicycle pump. This is also one of the locations where you can borrow a buggy upon presentation of your passport or identity card.
Just around the corner from the Koopgoot shopping area, you can walk straight onto Hoogstraat. At Zijl 10A, in the side street, you will find 192 bicycle parking spaces. Naturally, there is a free charging point for electric bicycles and a bicycle pump available.
Finally, the largest bicycle parking facility in the city centre: Blaak. With no fewer than 950 spaces, you can leave your bicycle here for a day of shopping in Rotterdam City Centre or if you are continuing your journey by public transport. From here, you can catch the train, metro or tram. This facility also provides space for 20 OV-fietsen (public hire bicycles).
A free charging point for electric bicycles, a bicycle pump and a bicycle repair station are all available. Travelling by moped, scooter or cargo bike? This may not be the best location, as it is intended strictly for bicycles. If you have come cycling with your child, you can borrow a buggy here upon presentation of your passport or identity card.
Please note that this facility is slightly below ground level, making it unsuitable for people with mobility impairments.
Parking your bicycle at Centraal Station is, of course, ideal if you are continuing your journey by public transport. This underground bicycle parking facility is located directly beneath the station square, at the front of the station. In addition to standard bicycle spaces, your mountain bike, cargo bike and bicycle with basket can also be parked here safely.

With so much growth and change in the city, cyclists must also be taken into account more. That is why there are several plans to build bicycle sheds in the centre, so that everyone can safely park their bicycle.
We have to wait a little bit for this one, but in 2029 the new bicycle shed will open in the same building and at the same time as the completion of the New Central Library.
