The largest indoor jazz festival in the world is coming to Rotterdam South for the seventeenth time. Of course I'm talking about NN North Sea Jazz 2024! NN North Sea Jazz 2024 will return to Rotterdam Ahoy on July 12, 13 and 14, 2024.
Every year, legends and new talent from the jazz, soul, funk and hip-hop world are ready to bless us with their music. At the time of writing, no names have been announced for the upcoming edition, but if we look at previous editions, expectations are high. In 2023 the line-up was filled with Stormzy, Typhoon, Gregory Porter, Lizzo and Tom Jones.
The festival introduced a special theme in 2023: Sounds of Diversity – A Shared Musical Heritage. This is because it was 150 years ago that slavery was abolished in the then colonies. With this overarching theme, the festival pays attention to the diversity in people and music that history has brought about in the Netherlands and in particular large cities such as Rotterdam.
Every year, North Sea Jazz offers space to emerging talent that deserves a stage with the Codarts Talent Stage. Here come the exceptionally musically gifted students of 'Hogeschool voor de Kunsten' Codarts who are eager to show their talent and thus overwhelm the audience with their music.
In 2023 there was something new: the Open Stage. Festival visitors who have the balls to showcase their talent could also indulge in their musical passion here.
