NN Marathon

Just a little while and then our sporty Rotterdammers can get back to work! On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April they will run the annual marathon. But they won't cross the finish line without their supporters.

To make it as easy as possible for you, you can read more about the accessibility of Rotterdam Centre during the marathon here.

Easily reach the city

Because the city is partially closed on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April, it may be difficult to reach some areas. The best tip is therefore to travel by public transport or bicycle, both the participants and the supporters. Get off at the Central Station, Beurs or Blaak metro stations and easily walk to the start and finish location. Are you coming to support the start of the full marathon on Sunday? Then get off at metro station Wilhelminaplein.

By car to the marathon

Is it easier for you to travel to Rotterdam by car? Then you can park for free in one of the P+R locations on the outskirts of the city. Here you take the metro to the centre.

Want to drive into town? Then take into account the road closures. For example, the Coolsingel will be completely closed for the entire weekend. Below are a few more places that are difficult to reach by car:

  • Schiedamsedijk: Saturday 6 a.m. to Sunday 8 p.m
  • Rodezand + Stadhuisstraat + Raamplein + Doelwater: Saturday 6 a.m. to Sunday 11 p.m.
  • Burgemeester van Walsumweg: Sunday 5 a.m. to 5 p.m

The Wilhelminakade will remain accessible, for which traffic will be allowed in two directions in the Otto Reuchlinweg via the Posthumalaan. To reach the centre, the advice is: if you enter the city from the west, then exit in the west. If you come from the east, then also exit through the east. More information about accessibility by car and the road closures can be found on the Marathon Rotterdam website.

Good to know

Finally, it is useful to know that Leuvehaven metro station will be closed on Sunday 14 April until 3 PM. Trams and buses will also be diverted. Were you planning to take your bike on the subway? Unfortunately, this is not allowed on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April until 8 PM.
